Ottobock WalkOn Reaction Plus Ankle and Foot Orthosis

If you suffer from dorsiflexion weakness or foot drop, walking naturally can be difficult and uncomfortable. There are a tonne of walking aids available on the market, however these are often bulky, clunky and uncomfortable to wear, which can result in pain transferring to different parts of the body.

The Ottobock WalkOn Reaction Plus Ankle and Foot Orthosis is a great walking aid designed to help users with dorsiflexion weakness and foot drop walk more naturally. This premium quality AFO has a lightweight and low profile without compromising on toughness and functionality.

What's Included?

  • 1 x AFO (Ankle and Foot Orthosis)

Discomfort-Free Walking

Like all other Ottobock WalkOn aids, the Reaction Plus Orthosis is fabricated from a prepreg advanced carbon composite for ultimate strength and durability. The WalkOn Reaction Plus features an anterior-placed calf cuff and longer strut, which works in conjunction with ground reaction forces to help extend the wearer's knee.

This makes the WalkOn Reaction Plus a great solution for active patients who have a slight knee extension impairment, as well as for those suffering from foot drop. Enjoy discomfort-free walking and get more out of your day with the handy Ottobock WalkOn Reaction Plus Orthosis!

Can the Ottobock AFO Be Trimmed to Size?

Yes, the footplate of the Ottobock WalkOn Reaction Plus AFO can be trimmed to size. This helps you tailor the base of the device to the unique size and shape of your foot.

Please note that the only section that can be trimmed is the outer rubbery leather section of the footplate that is clearly marked around the internal, harder section of the AFO footplate. This interior carbon fibre section must not be cut into.

Lightweight and Discreet Design

Ottobock understand that wearing any type of AFO, orthotic or compensatory device can be uncomfortable and unfashionable. The Reaction Plus is all about giving a discreet and lightweight feel that can easily be worn underneath trousers during the day for concealed support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to our most commonly answered Ottobock AFO questions:

How Do I Put the WalkOn Reaction Brace On?

Application couldn't be easier. Place the orthosis inside your shoe first then insert your foot on top before fastening the hook and loop closures to stabilise the AFO.

Can I Wash the WalkOn Reaction Plus AFO?

The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water and a mild cleaning agent. All pads and closures are combined, and all textile components can be washed and replaced. We recommend washing the pad at least twice a week (machine washable at 40°C).

Can I Play Sports With the Ottobock Reaction Plus AFO?

Absolutely! If you are concerned about this aspect of your recovery, we recommend speaking with a healthcare professional, however the Ottobock Reaction Plus Foot Drop Orthosis is durable and lightweight enough to make sports and active wear a breeze.

Are Special Shoes Required?

No, the Ottobock Reaction Plus is designed as an ultra-accessible AFO that can be worn inside any style of shoe. For best results however, we recommend wearing your Ottobock AFO with shoes that you know to have a sturdy, reinforced heel.

We recommend shoes with a minimum heel height of 10mm so that the orthosis moves around as little as possible.

Insole Sizing Guide

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit

Using Your Shoe Size

For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.

Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.

Measuring Your Current Insoles

While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.

To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
  2. Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
  3. Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results

How to measure your insoles

Where Can I Find the Dimensions?

The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.

The dimensions of insoles can usually be found on the "Product Details" tab

What If There Are No Dimensions Listed?

If you do not see the dimensions listed on the Product Details tab, please fill in the form below and we will work to get the relevant information as quickly as possible. We will email you once we have the information that you have requested.

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit

To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
  2. Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
  3. Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
  4. Carefully cut along the traced line
  5. Your insoles should now fit your shoes better

Trace the outline of your existing insoles
Carefully trace the outline of your insole

Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.
