What Makes FootActive Football Insoles Best for Football?
The Football Insoles consist of a soft polyurethane and gel, providing cushioning and support for the insole. This is encased in a plastic outer shell to protect the components, improving durability. The insole is narrow and has a low arch, meaning it can be slotted into a football boot without the player feeling any cramp or discomfort through having it there.
The sole helps to control pronation. The turning of the foot is a cause for many other biomechanical injuries that affects the foot and therefore works as a prevention instruments.
The football insole has the following features:
- Firm thermo-plastic outer shell for durability
- Polyurethane mid-base which adds cushioning to the insole
- Polymer gel heel and forefoot pads to provide support and cushioning
- Built in metatarsal raise for support
- Slim design to fit sports shoes - can be used in narrow-fitting sports shoes as well as football boots
Which Conditions Can FootActive Football Insoles Help With?
- Heel pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendonitis
- Shin splints
- Ball of foot and metatarsal pain
- Metatarsalgia
- Sports injuries
What Is Pronation?
Pronation is the inward rolling of the ankle or foot. Some degree of pronation occurs in natural walking, but overpronation can have negative effects beyond the feet. It can contribute to knee pain and shin splints, as well as other lower leg problems. Supination is the opposite of pronation (outward rolling of the ankle or foot) and represents similar risks.
Why Is Pronation so Common in Football?
During sports – particularly physically dynamic sports like football and rugby – the risk of injury due to overpronation is even greater. Combined with strength and stretching programmes, orthotic foot insoles are a key way to keep pronation under control and avoid injury.
What Sets FootActive Insoles Apart From the Rest?
Tight sports boots with cleats, such as football boots, represent a unique issue for your feet since they generally come without foot support and do not have room for conventional insoles. The slimline design of these insoles allows you to access support without sacrificing the performance boost from your boots.
Who Can Benefit from the FootActive Football Insoles
As well as providing general support and cushioning for people playing football, the FootActive Football insoles help to treat and prevent the following conditions:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Shin Splints
- Patello-femoral syndrome (knee pain)

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit
Using Your Shoe Size
For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.
Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.
Measuring Your Current Insoles
While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.
To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
- Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
- Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results
Where Can I Find the Dimensions?
The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit
To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:
- Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
- Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
- Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
- Carefully cut along the traced line
- Your insoles should now fit your shoes better
Carefully trace the outline of your insole
Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.
