Sorbothane Shock Stopper Single Strike insoles are ideal for any activity where the heel is subject to the most impact, including many sport, leisure and walking/ hiking activities as well as everyday life. Because they are nice and thin, Sorbothane Single Strike Insoles fit into a range of different shoes, trainers and boots. Their patented Sorbothane Viscoelastic compound mimics the characteristics of human flesh and absorbs 94.7% of vibrations on impact and also it helps to prevent heel pain and heel spurs!

How Thick are Sorbothane Single Strike Insoles?

A common question we get is "how thin are these insoles?" If an insole is too thick, it can cause the foot to rub against the fabric above. Too thin, and your knees and hips will soon know about it. The Single Strike Insoles have a thickness of 8.5mm at the heel, and 4.5mm at the toe. To ensure a precise level of fit, we recommend removing the existing insole from your shoes and measuring the length and width at the widest and longest point. Match this width to the dimensions listed below in order to find the pair that will best fit your shoes.

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit

Using Your Shoe Size

For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.

Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.

Measuring Your Current Insoles

While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.

To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
  2. Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
  3. Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit

To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
  2. Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
  3. Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
  4. Carefully cut along the traced line
  5. Your insoles should now fit your shoes better

Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.

I bought these to provide a little more shock absorption on long walks over rough terrain. I've just (over 4 days) walked 40 miles with 11000 ft of ascent and found them to be very comfortable indeed.

I thought these were disappointingly quite thin other than at the heel when I opened them but after using them I’ve found them to be a massive improvement to the cushioning and comfort in my walking boots- replaced the insoles they came with about 2 years ago - feet were aching and I haven’t noticed aching since changing them so definitely recommend 👍

These are nice and soft, ideal for fatigue after or during a long walk. Could be improved with a little arch support, but I overcame this by using an ankle strap.
