How Thick Are Podotech Flat Base Insoles?
The flat base insole measures 2mm thickness on the forefoot and this then lifts to a 3mm thickness on the heel. The hardness of the insole falls into the category of A30 - A35.
How Rigid/Flexible are the Insoles?
As the Podotech Insoles are designed as a base for orthotic fittings below, they are extremely flexible.
What Is the Flat Base Insole Express Kit?
Designed to allow the user to customise their own insole, this flat bed insole is the first essential part of this "orthotic building" process. With the assistance of a trained footcare professional, a range of adjustments, wedges, bars and postings can be applied to the base in different areas, allowing you to build your own insole and target specific areas and conditions.
Which Orthotic Adjustments Are Available?
Please select from the list of orthotic adjustments below:
- Kidney Shape with Centre Fitting Metatarsal Pad: provides a more extensive level of support across the whole metatarsal area.
- Toe Bar: elevates the toes to help distribute pressure and weight away from this area, spreading it around the whole of the foot.
- Kidney Shaped Metatarsal Pad: provides support across the whole of the metatarsal area behind the toes.
- Central Metatarsal Pad: with a moderate rise, it helps to position the foot and provide weight distribution and relief of pressure, encouraging natural alignment of the foot.
- Metatarsal Bars for 1st and 5th Heads: especially suitable for those suffering from metatarsal pain and metatarsalgia.
- Stomach Shape Metatarsal Pad: provides support across the whole width of the foot, running below all of the toes to provide a consistent amount of support to the whole area.
- Metatarsal Bar: reduces pressure and helps to minimise the pain caused by the pressure on the metatarsal area of the foot.
- Cobra Pad: particularly suitable for people suffering from fore-foot and rear-foot pronation.
Who Can Benefit from the Flat Base Insole Express Kit?
The Flat Base Insole Express Kit is ideal for people who have tried standardised, out the box insoles and found they require a greater degree of targeted support. If you're looking for a pair of insoles that you can customise, adjust and tailor to meet the unique and specific needs of your feet, the Flat Base Insole Express Kit is a great place to start.
Non-Slip Bottom for Enhanced Stability
If you are concerned about insole movement or slippage inside your shoes, the non-slip bottom of the Flat Insole enhances stability and prevents sliding, providing robust and reliable support in all the right areas. Wave goodbye to poorly positioned support and reap the benefits of stabilised, reinforced orthotic support.
Features of the Flat Base Insole Express Kit
As well as the measurements and template, the insoles are available in a wide range of sizes. This makes them suitable for anyone who might require tailored support, including children.
Please note that these insoles come supplied as a pair.

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit
Using Your Shoe Size
For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.
Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.
Measuring Your Current Insoles
While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.
To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
- Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
- Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results
Where Can I Find the Dimensions?
The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.
The dimensions of insoles can usually be found on the "Product Details" tab
What If There Are No Dimensions Listed?
If you do not see the dimensions listed on the Product Details tab, please fill in the form below and we will work to get the relevant information as quickly as possible. We will email you once we have the information that you have requested.
Trimming Your Insoles to Fit
To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:
- Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
- Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
- Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
- Carefully cut along the traced line
- Your insoles should now fit your shoes better
Carefully trace the outline of your insole
Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.
