ProCare ShoeLift Shoe Balancer for Walker Boots or Casts
Medical boots can be a hugely important part of the recovery process, protecting your fragile ankle from reinjury, while also allowing you put some weight on it to get around easier. The problem is that their protective design adds a lot of height to your foot, causing a leg length discrepancy. The ProCare ShoeLift Shoe Balancer for Walker Boots or Casts clips onto the shoe of your healthy leg, evening the height of both legs and making walking much less awkward.
Please note: the images above show the ShoeLift fitted to a shoe and worn with a medical boot on the other foot. This for illustrative purposes only and neither are included.
What's Included?

What Does the ProCare ShoeLift Do?
The ProCare ShoeLift Shoe Balancer is the perfect tool for equalising discrepancies in leg length when a cast or walker boot is being worn. Using an elastic shoe cage and strap, the ProCare Shoe Balancer can be seamlessly attached to the underside of multiple different styles of shoe to make getting around with a medical boot or device much more comfortable.
Which Size Shoe Balancer Is Right for Me?
The ProCare ShoeLift is supplied in three sizes based on your UK shoe size. Please find your size in the table below and select it from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
Size | UK Shoe Size |
Small | Size 4 - 7 |
Medium | Size 8 - 10 |
Large | Size 10+ |
What Is the ProCare Shoe Balancer For?
The ProCare Shoe Balancer is designed for use with a walker boot or foot brace. You wear it on the opposing shoe to your injury support, where it can be altered in height between 1/2" and an inch in order to correct gait. This allows the patient to walk with more fluidity and comfort, preventing the limp that is usually associated with wearing a walker boot.
How Do I Wear the ProCare ShoeLift Shoe Balancer?
The ProCare ShoeLift Shoe Balancer is simple to put on with the following steps:
- Loosen the top strap to make room for your foot
- While you're seated place your uninjured foot over your other knee
- Place the front of the ShoeLift cage over the toe of your shoe
- Pull the other end over your heel and make sure the whole cage covers your shoe
- Fasten the hook and loop strap securely over the top of your shoe with the ProCare name facing up
Is the ProCare Shoe Balancer Suitable for Most Foot Injuries?
The ShoeLift is designed for use with a walker boot. However, it can be used on a temporary basis if you suffer from leg length discrepancy. You may find yourself using a walker boot, or suffering from leg length discrepancy with the following injuries:
- Achilles tendon ruptures
- Ankle joint fractures
- Arthrodesis
- Arthrodesis of the metatarsal joints
- Calcaneal fractures
- Hallux valgus / rigidus
- Hammer and claw toes
- Lapidus operation
- Leg length discrepancy
- Metatarsal fractures
- Prosthesis
- Severe sprains
What If I Fall Between Sizes?
If you fall between the predetermined sizes, we would recommend choosing the larger size. This ensures your shoe will fit within the Shoe Balancer, and allows you to use the included strap for comfortable adjustment.
How Does the Shoe Balancer Work?
The Shoe Balancer works by allowing you to walk with both legs being the same height. It adds height to the leg without the medical boot or cast, making getting around much easier and more comfortable.
What Shoes Can I Use the ProCare Shoe Balancer With?
The ProCare Shoe Balancer is versatile and suitable for use with most shoes. It can be adjusted with a nylon strap, meaning that you can fit it over most shoes. Suitable shoes include:

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit
Using Your Shoe Size
For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.
Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.
Measuring Your Current Insoles
While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.
To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
- Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
- Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results
Where Can I Find the Dimensions?
The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.
The dimensions of insoles can usually be found on the "Product Details" tab
What If There Are No Dimensions Listed?
If you do not see the dimensions listed on the Product Details tab, please fill in the form below and we will work to get the relevant information as quickly as possible. We will email you once we have the information that you have requested.
Trimming Your Insoles to Fit
To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:
- Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
- Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
- Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
- Carefully cut along the traced line
- Your insoles should now fit your shoes better
Carefully trace the outline of your insole
Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.
