Patellar tendonitis (also known as jumpers’ knee, patellar tendinitis and patellar tendinopathy) is an injury to the tendon which connects your knee and shinbone. It’s most common in athletes who jump a lot in their sport or discipline, hence the name jumpers’ knee. If you’re an athlete with patellar tendonitis, it can put you out of action for an unfortunately long period of time. Fortunately, there are some exercises you can do to help with the condition, so you can be hands-on with your recovery.

It’s also known as jumpers’ knee, because it’s most commonly found in athletes whose sports need a lot of jumping, such as basketball players. There are a huge variety of things which can affect how long it takes you to recover from patellar tendonitis, and if you’re an athlete it can keep you out of the game for a long period of time.
