Best Plantar Fasciitis Insoles 2024

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects a huge number of people on a yearly basis, and it can have a strongly negative effect on your quality of life. What a lot of people don't know is that the pain of plantar fasciitis can be reduced with the right pair of insoles.

Here at ShoeInsoles.co.uk, we've got experts on all things insoles and our experts have combined their knowledge to bring you this helpful guide of the Best Plantar Fasciitis Insoles. If you're looking for something specific, here's what we are going to cover below:

Best All-Round Plantar Fasciitis Insoles

Winner: Superfeet Green Performance Insoles

Superfeet Green Performance Insoles

Why We Love Them...

Fit into a wide selection of sport and casual shoes
Biomechanical shape fits and supports the contours of your feet
Stabilises the foot, reducing strain on feet, knees and ankles

Ideal For...

 General everyday use
People suffering from other conditions as well as PF
Switching between a number of different shoes

Not the Best For...

Heavy sports use (See our solution)
Use in narrower shoes (See our solution)

Editor's Verdict: Superfeet Green are one of the best-selling insoles, and it's easy to understand why. They have an ergonomic shape that fits to the contours of your feet, which reduces the amount of strain placed on your plantar fascia. If you're looking for an insole for the day-to-day managing of PF pain, you can't go far wrong with the Superfeet Green.

Runner Up: Pro11 Orthotic Insoles with Metatarsal Pad and Arch Support

Best Plantar Fasciitis Insoles for Runners

Winner: Pedag Viva Sport Insoles

Pedag Viva Sport Insoles

Why We Love Them...

Comfortable design supports your arch to reduce strain
Includes additional padding on the ball of the foot
Thinner width is well suited to sports' shoes

Ideal For...

Running, walking and a range of sports
Protecting your feet against strain and shocks
Use as an everyday insole as well as for sports

Not the Best For...

Use in formal/court shoes (See our solution)
People whose PF stems more from a medical condition (See our solution)

Editor's Verdict: The Pedag Viva Sport are a very popular pair of insoles with our more active customers as they balance price and performance. If you're new to using insoles and you don't want to shell out for an expensive or custom pair yet, the Viva Sport are a great starting point. Just be aware that, as with most things, you probably won't get the same length of performance from the Pedag Viva as you would from some of the higher-end insoles.

Runner Up: Vionic Active Orthotic Insoles

Best 3/4 Length Plantar Fasciitis Insoles

Winner: Sof Sole Plantar Fasciitis Insoles for Men and for Women

Sof Sole Plantar Fasciitis Orthotic Insoles

Why We Love Them...

Compact design that doesn't compromise on comfort
Cushioning gel absorbs shock without adding limiting movement
Available in Men's and Women's versions

Ideal For...

Use in narrow shoes such as court shoes
Absorbing shock when exercising
Moving between multiple pairs of shoes

Not the Best For...

People that prefer a whole foot insole (See our solution)
A high level of support (See our solution)

Editor's Verdict: The Sof Sole Plantar Fasciitis Insoles are designed to be quick and convenient – a great choice for just throwing in your running shoes before you set off, and they can even be used in formal shoes. Their design can be easily trimmed to suit a wide variety of footwear and the gel construction is ideal for people looking for something that is more cushioning than supportive.

Runner Up: Footactive Casual Insoles

Best Shock Absorbing Plantar Fasciitis Insoles

Winner: Sorbothane Shock Stopper Full Strike Insoles

Sorbothane Shock Stopper Full Strike Insoles

Why We Love Them...

Lightweight material that can absorb a serious amount of shock
Flat profile ideal for those who don't want contoured supports
Can be easily trimmed for a perfect fit to your shoes

Ideal For...

Absorbing the shock of running, hiking and other sports
Use in work shoes or boots
Providing comfort without contouring

Not the Best For...

A contoured fit to your foot (See our solution)
People looking to support/stabilise the heel (See our solution)

Editor's Verdict: The Sorbothane Insoles have been used for decades now with only superficial changes to their design and this longevity is proof of their worth. The Sorbothane Shock Stopper Full Strike don't feature a fancy anatomical design, but they do massively reduce the strain placed on your feet. If you're looking for a neutrally-shaped insole to reduce plantar fasciitis or general foot fatigue, these are the best option around.

Best Insoles for Standing All Day with Plantar Fasciitis

Winner: Powerstep Original Full Length Insoles

Powerstep Original Full Length Insoles

Why We Love Them...

Medical grade orthotics at an unbeatable price
Prevent the rolling of the ankle, which can cause or exacerbate fasciitis
Anatomical shape and rigid materials are ideal for high levels of support

Ideal For...

Jobs that keep you on your feet (waitstaff, nurses, warehousing etc.)
Most types of shoes including casual shoes, sports shoes and work boots
People whose PF is as a result of another foot condition

Not the Best For...

Use during sports (See our solution)
May not be suited to more narrow shoes (See our solution)

Editor's Verdict: The Powerstep Original are a bit more medical than some of the other insoles on this list, dealing with not only plantar fasciitis but also some of the causes of plantar fasciitis, such as pronation and supination. Where the Powerstep Original Insoles shine is for people that spend a lot of time on their feet, such as waitstaff, hospital workers, street-sweepers and many more. The insoles help to keep your feet aligned, which reduces strain even when standing and walking for longer periods.

Runner Up: Langer Bio Advanced Medium Density Insoles

Conclusion

It can be quite difficult to make insole recommendations, as no two pairs of feet are the same and what feels like a miracle for one person might not work for another. All of the insoles listed, however, are tried and tested – we've sold thousands of insoles, so we know when there are some that customers keep coming back to.

If you're looking for the absolute number-one recommendation for someone that's never worn insoles before, I would definitely recommend trying out the Pedag Viva Sport Insoles. These are a great entry point to trying insoles – they're suitable for both sports and casual use, and you don't have to break the bank to see whether or not they work for you.

I used to jog regularly. About a year ago I got a terribly painful case of Plantar Fasciitis in my right foot. I've only been walking since. My condition is now better but not gone. I have decided to start jogging again.
At the athletic shoe store the salesperson recommended your Plantar Fascia insoles.
I am writing because I want to be sure that his recommendation that these insoles go on top of the insoles already in the Brooks running shoes is correct, and that one does not replace the other. Thank you!

Hi Rosemarie,

For most pairs of insoles, we would normally recommend that you remove your shoe's existing insoles before applying your new insoles.

However, if you're referring to the 3/4 length insoles, some users may find that keeping their existing full-length insoles in your shoes is more comfortable, as otherwise your toes may be left feeling unsupported.

I would recommend you try the insoles both ways, and see which is more comfortable for you, as much of this comes down to personal preference.

Kind regards,

Eugene at Shoe Insoles

Hi there,

I received my "Superfeet Green All-Purpose Support High Arch Insoles" yesterday after being recomnded from a friend who also had plantar fasciitis pain in his heel.

After obviosuly removing the existing insoles and replacing them by the new ones, i tried them on but my heel on both feet feel quite raised to a point where my feet don't feel fully inside the shoe, might i say, very uncomfortable. I've tried that in 3 different pair of shoes.

I am checking here as I still want to give a chance and perhaps exchange to another insoles, but quite lost at this point, any info would be appreaciated!

Thanks,
Roy
